PROFESSORS WORLD PEACE ACADEMY
Aims and Purposes
Introduction
Throughout history human beings
have desired a peaceful world. Yet conflict persists. Most people want
peace on their own terms. Unscrupulous political leaders have often proclaimed
peace, while in reality exploiting and manipulating others. Wars have been
fought in the name of religions that proclaim peace. World peace is built
on the basis of values that transcend the perspective of an individual.
Scholars, by the objective
nature of their inquiry, are in a position to guide their societies to
genuine peace. However, the specialized nature of science requires an interdisciplinary
approach to social problems.
The Professors World Peace
Academy (PWPA) was established to support the academic community in the
quest for peace. With chapters in over 100 countries, it forms a broad
network covering the globe and provides links between scholars on all continents.
PWPA International assists in the formation of
new chapters, in the development of book publishing and the exchange of
scholars between chapters. PWPA International organizes international congresses
of chapter presidents is developing a world university system.
Contributions to PWPA International
may be designated to a specific progam, country, or the endowment fund.
PWPA is a United States 501(c)(3) non-profit
educational organization. All contributions are tax deductible.
Aims and Purposes
International
PWPA is aware of the globalization of the world's
communication, transportation, and economy. It aims to serve the creation
of positive global values in education.
Academic
PWPA desires to promote the highest standards
of academic excellence in its programs and to support the free exchange
of knowledge and ideas.
Interdisciplinary
PWPA recognizes that academic divisions along
disciplinary, national, and cultural lines cause problems. In order for
peace to be achieved, no single field of research can alone provide adequate
solutions.
Future Oriented
PWPA seeks to engender hope and practical strategies
for a better world by developing future scenarios for a better society.
Scholars, who possess a wealth of information, can help to articulaterealistic
visions of peace.
Practical
PWPA chapters work on the most pressing problems
of their own society, bringing the best knowledge available throughout
the world to their own situations. They provide useful information and
constructive strategies to social and political leaders of their own countries.
